Family trip to France.

We left home at about 18.30 on Friday 3rd July and drove down to Milbay docks. We met up with Deb,s and the girls,had a coffee and then it was time to board, all very civilised and relaxed.  

After enjoying another coffee and a catchup we went to our cabin which was very nice.  Leigh had to sleep in the top bunk which was a whole new experience.  Slept okay but were woken up at six which I thought was a bit early.

4th July 2026

As we were not able to access the cottage until 5pm we spent the day driving around and doing some shopping.  The weather was extremely hot.  

Three times I found myself driving on the wrong side of the road and made the odd mistake at a junction.  All good so far.

5th july 2026

Having had a very leisurely breakfast we went out to look around the area.  We found a very nice beach that allowed me to get on the sand.  I did not go anywhere near the water as the tide was out and the sea was about 500 metres away.

6th July 2026

Today after a late breakfast we drove down to the city of Quimper.  We parked quite close to the cathedral which is a very impressive building..

It would appear that on a monday most of the shops are closed but not all.  We went into a fantastic bookshop which although it was all in french was still a very impressive shop.  Both Eli and Harriett bought some books.

In the evening we had a very nice Bar-b-que with me doing the cooking.  Later when we were clearing up I nearly stepped on this little fella.  It was the first time I had ever seen one of these and then we spotted a second one.  Leigh very carefully moved them to a safer part of the garden.

7th July 2026

We went down into Crozon today, its only a small town but it was nice to have a look around.  We stopped for a drink and then bought some cakes to take back to have for tea.

8th July 2026

So today we drove down to Morgat.  We had booked a boat trip on a catamaran.  Our trip was not until 3.30 so we had decided to find somewhere for a nice lunch first.

The sea was very calm, almost no movement at all.  I left my scooter on the dock and off we went.  He took us around the coast and we stopped in a cove with lots of caves.  We were given 30 minutes to swim.

The water was not too bad but a few feet beneath the surface there was an icy layer of water.  Never felt it like that before.

9th July 2026

Today we decided to go to Oceanopolis.  It is a very large Aquarium with some huge tanks.  They had sharks as well as small coral fish.  

10th July 2026

We went back to Morgat today so they could go into the water. It was very hot so once they were all out of the water we went back to the house for a couple of hours befote going back to morgat for our dinner.  I think we all enjoyed our meal and last evening here in france.
