Hillcrest views Illogan Cornwall 25th July 2025

So we arrived at Hillcrest views campsite at about four, the weather was beginning to turn.  Whilst still warm it had become overcast.  We are going to get some rain later.

Debris and Kev came over about five and it was lovely to see them again, it has seemed a very long time.  We are just having Sausage, egg and chips, Leigh is cooking the sausages and eggs and they have gone to get the chips.

26th July 2025

Today we went to the Flcker Donkey sanctuary in Mabe Cornwall.  We saw lots of Donkeys and before we left I decided to adopt Sammy.  The donkeys all have problems with many of them having been badly treated.  

The grounds are divided into a number of smaller paddocks which can be used when feeding.  Because some of the animals have been denied food in the past it can sometimes make them a bit greedy so separating them prevents this.

All of the donkeys that you can get close to are gentle and show no aggression.  This is a surprise when you consider how they have been treated in the past by their human owners.

The sanctuary is free to enter and relies on donations and what they can sell in the cafe and bookshop.   They also raise money through the adoption scheme mentioned above.

27th July 2025

So today has not started well with it raining, however it is still very warm.  If the rain holds off this afternoon we are hoping to have a Bar-B-Que.  Kevin and Debris came over and brought Julie.  Julie took over the cooking and we all had a lovely meal.  The weather was lovely and we had a lovely afternoon.
