Ruby our Campervan

We spent our first night in our new Campervan at Harford Bridge.  Although this site is only the other side of Tavistock, it gave us the chance to test our new van. We completed the purchase on the 22nd August 2024 and went straight to the site.  The vans number plate is currently PJ17NPY but we hope to put our own plate on her soon.

We are planning to use as a day van as well as for camping.  It will allow us the opportunity to enjoy more days out taking our facilities with us.  Bernie soon settled in and we all had a quiet nights sleep.

We took Ruby down to the Airfield today (26th August) for the afternoon.  It was a bit breezy but when the sun shone it was very warm.  Leigh cooked us an omelete for lunch and we had a nice relaxing time.

Our most impressive use of Ruby was when we took it across from Holyhead to Dublin.  We had planned our holiday carefully to include both Campsites and some wild camping.  As the van is not huge it was going to be quite a test to live for such a long time in a very small room.  As it was we had a great time and managed over 2000 miles.

Whilst on a four day rally which was held in Newbury we saw a motorhome we liked, in fact we liked it so much we actually bought it.  It is the same age as Ruby and uses the same Fiat Ducatto cab and engine however it's been upgraded to produce 150bhp.  As we had already planned the above Irish road trip we had to delay the sale until early July.  I shall be driving Ruby up to York in order to part exchange for the motorhome on Sunday 6th July to complete the transaction on Monday 7th July 2025.  The new van is the same year as Ruby but she only has 15,000 miles on the clock and appears to be in perfect condition.

This will take you to see our new Motorhome which I am going to name later
