Day one Journey to Gloucester

This was a tiring journey which ended up taking five hours.  Still we did get a nice pitch and had a good night there.  We left the following morning to complete the last 200 miles which we did in four hours.  The site is very interesting as it is sited in the middle of the woods.

Day Two -Arrive on site in Kendal

Day Three - Drive into Kendal - seemed like a lovely town.  Full of the normal mix of Estate Agents, Phone shops, and Charty shops.  The majority of the rest is made up of independents.

Day Four - Bank Holiday Monday Farm shop

Day Five - Today we visited Beatrix Potter

Day Six - Visit to Lakeview Motor Museum

Amazing collection of Cars,Motorbikes, Scooters, Cycles and every other item that is motor related.

Day Seven - Went for a drive today around Coniston water.  It was quite an experience in a 25 foot plus vehicle.  

With the lake five miles long I can see why Donald Campbell felt it was ideal for his speed attempts.

It was very quiet and so we stopped for a coffee and cake in the van.

Day two 

On the Friday we ventured into the town.  A very nice small town (population approx 1400) it has all sorts of shops and we found a lovely cafe for lunch, not cheap but good service and food.

We also discovered the reason we had no electric in the van.  When connecting I was meant to push the plug in and twist it. This was the first time I had ever heard of this but anyway now we have electric.

Day Three

We woke on Saturday to a light dusting of snow.  We checked and found out it was going to snow more that day and overnight.  They had also had snow at home although the roads were still okay.  Being so far from home, not in miles but in time meant we had to make a decision.  The site was closing the following day so getting stuck here was not really an option.  I think we made the only choice we could and decided to make our way home.  Although it was not too bad at home that night it did get bad so we had made the correct decision.

Weekend up in East Devon at West Middlewick Farm 1st May 2026

So today on the 1st May we are going back to our favourite East Devon site.  This is mainly because of the animals he has on the farm.  We have not been back since we had Ruby our first motor home so it will be interesting to see how much it has changed.  This is just going to be a short two day stay for now as we found a gap in our diaries.  This time in preparation of our journey and the need to keep our food frozen I have put the fridge on gas to get the temperature down.  Once we start to move it should then automatically switch over to Electric coming off the battery.  Mileage at the start of our journey today is 17,817.  

We arrived at about 5.30 and made our way down to the second field. This is the same field we stayed in before.  There is a lovely view in all directions.

Since we were last here John has undertaken a lot of building work to develop the farms offering.  Where once there was a high roofed milking parlour we now have a large gift shop on the ground floor and a lovely cafe on the new second floor.

We had to go over to look at the cows in the shed feeding.  They all looked very cute.

These piglets were really tiny and could not have been more than a couple of days old.
