Camelford Friday 10th April 2026

Camelford is 39 miles from Princetown.  It was a pleasant drive down and the site was easy to find.  There are only a few motorhomes and caravans here so its not busy.  When we were being booked in we realised it was the same lady who was at Dulverton when we stayed there.

Just a quiet day today relaxing but tomorrow we shall drive out and find a town.  I hope the weather improves though it really blowing a gale outside tonight.

The hills have run my scooter right down so need to fully charge it in case we need it tomorrow.

Port Issac Saturday 11th April

Today we went to Port Issac (Port Wenn) to look around.  As the name suggests it is where Doc Martin was filmed.  We have been there before but a very long time ago.  We were able to make out where a lot of the buildings were that were used in the series.  We parked away from the town and had to walk along the coastal path.  It was lovely, very windy but when out of the wind it was quite warm.  The sea looked very cold and quite rough

Here we have a good picture of Doc Martins house and surgery.  Leigh walked up to take this picture but the hill was too steep for my scooter, may even have been too steep for Leigh but she wanted to go up.

Here is a distance shot of the building used as the school.  That building is now a hotel and resturant.

This picture shows the view from Doc Martins house showing both the road and the cove.

Leigh is on her way back down the hill which is not much easier than going up.

12th April Wadebridge

After an unsucessful search for the Camel trail we have ended up i Wadebridge.  Being in need of a coffee we have ended up in a very nice public house called The Molesworth Arms.  Leigh insisted I have some lunch so I had a roast and she shared the veg.

As Leigh was not eating and had been looking at the cocktail menu I insisted she had one.  Although it looks a little like anti-freeze she assures me it tasted really nice.

13th April Bude

So today we have driven to Bude.  It was just 19 miles from the site and a very nice drive.  So far Leigh has managed to find a small fabric shop, she purchased some summery material to make a skirt.  Its been a long time since I have seen her in a skirt so maybe her weight loss has given her more confidence.

It did not take me long to buy some books.  First in the Works where it was 3 for £7.50 and then one in a charity shop. This last one is maybe one that Harriet might enjoy, we shall see.

Today we are sat in an outdoor cafe having walked quite a long way around the town.  The sky is almost entirely blue and when out of the wind it is really quite hot.

Once we got back to the car and were heading back to the van the rain started and it was quite heavy.  Ten minutes later and we would have been caught in it so we were very lucky we left when we did.

15th April 2026

Today its time to go home. As its only about 40 miles it should not take much more than an hour.  We certainly had the best of the weather, today is dull with a fine drizzle.  Its misty on the hills so probably the same at home.
